The Adult Sunday School Class which meets in the multi-purpose room at 11:00 a.m. has started a new study based on the book John 3:16 by Max Lucado. This study is a twenty-six-word parade of hope: beginning with God, ending with life, and urging us to do the same. It is brief enough to write on a napkin or memorize in a moment, yet solid enough to weather two thousand years of storms and questions. This study includes 12 lessons that are designed to work with both the study book and the Stories of Hope DVD for a multi-media experience. The workbook includes 12 weeks of scripture focused lessons. The participants would only need their Bibles to complete each lesson. If you know nothing of the Bible, start here. If you know everything in the Bible, return here. We all need the reminder. The heart of the human problem is the heart of the human, and God’s treatment is prescribed in John 3:16.

We know it is early, however, we are encouraging each of you to fill a shoe box for the Samariatan’s Purse Operation Christmas Child Program. To accomplish this, we are going to have a monthly suggestion of what can be bought to help fill this box. This will help you to know what types of articles to purchase, and by the time the boxes are due you will have enough items to fill your box. This month we are suggesting you purchase a comb or a brush. We hope this will help you keep the ministry and the people it reaches in your thoughts and prayers throughout the year.
To help us become better acquainted with our new members, we would like to have a photo taken following the service when they come for membership. This photo along with a bit of info about them would be placed on an easel in the vestibule for a few weeks. In order to do this we need some volunteers to serve as photographers at the two Sunday morning worship services. If you would be willing to give a few minutes following one or both of our services to do this, please let one of our Deacons, Pastor Allen, or the church office know.
We need your help! We are seeking a couple of volunteers who would be willing to help with our youth in the area of DRAMA and MUSIC. Are you interested? Please pray and then see Tracy or Alisa.
“G.R.O.W.” MINISTRY "G.R.O.W" is our “new” outreach/in reach program. Currently we have 22 men and women committed to “team” up to reach out to members, visitors and to new people in our communities! We will be sending out cards and letters, making phone calls and visits on Wednesday evenings during the Bible Study hour. “G.R.O.W.” stands for “God Rewards Our Work!” I believe that God will truly reward our attempts to reach out and minister to those inside and outside our congregation who have either “drifted away” or “haven’t found a church home” yet. You can help this ministry even if you are not able to “team up” on Wednesday nights! If you have the name, address and phone number of someone you would like for us to contact about “Knowing Christ and Making Him Known,” let us know in the church office!
Parents and Adults…We’re still looking for you! OK, so God has spoken to your spirit and you believe He’s telling you to become a youth volunteer. WOW! That’s GREAT because we are in need of several volunteers to help with changes that will be taking place very soon in our youth department. Isn’t God’s timing wonderful! Just let Pastor Tracy, Alisa or Connie Alfrey know that you’re ready to take that step of faith and we’ll fill you in on all the details.
MOSAIC PORTRAIT Located in the hallway leading to the gym, a Mosaic Portrait has been placed on the wall. Look closely at the Portrait and you’ll see each individual family’s portrait of those whose picture is in the new directory. Step back, and now you’ll see a beautiful and inspirational image, Jesus Christ as the Good Shepherd. If you would like to have one or more of these portraits to hang in your home or as a gift, contact Shirley Taylor or the church office. The cost is $150.
OUTREACH COMMITTEE If you would like to attend a WV Power Baseball Game, Milton Baptist Church will be going Sunday, August 8. Samaritan’s Purse suggestion of the month is pens and pencils for your Samaritan’s Purse Operation Christmas Child shoe box, if you are participating in this ministry.

Baskets are available at the church office, gym entrance, and the vestibule. Help us as we continue to reach out to our community. |
